This was an assignment unlike anything I had ever done, posing a unique challenge in both creativity and form. I had to find child's drawings and "reimagine" them, using the forms, shapes, and concepts to make 2 fully rendered and colored illustrative pieces.
My professor took inspiration for this project from Dave Devries The Monster Engine, where illustrator Dave Devries turned his son's drawings into fully rendered pieces, starring the monsters from a child's imagination.
For this project, I decided to collaborate with 4 year old Cora, circa 2005.

Drawing 4 Value Study
Here are the 4 original drawings from 2005 that I found (thank you, Mom!) and value studies that I did for each one in graphite in the present day. The value studies were used as tests to help decide which 2 compositions I wanted to fully render and bring to life with color.
