During the SCAD Winter-Spring quarters in 2021, I was the sole motion designer working in collaboration with the senior film Undersea News. Below are all of the final shots that were used in the completed film.
I communicated directly with the student team in charge of the film throughout the process, providing mockups, final versions, and multiple changes according to feedback along the way. This was a quarter-long process from start to finish.
The introductory shot, a news-style intro that displayed the logo. Design, color, and animation were all done by me.
Wave transition used between scenes. Many edits were made to the speed and flow of this transition to fit with what the director had envisioned.
A background for a scene between a few news anchors talking in cropped frames. Looped so that it could play for as long as needed.
A technical difficulties card, displayed near the end, customized to be sea themed. Design, colors, and animation all by me.
A title card for a fake movie at the end of the film.
Here is some process and WIPs from different stages of these shots, showing the evolution and changes that they all went through.
Some process of the design for the Technical Difficulties frame, which included a lot of edits and tweaks involving design and layout from the Undersea News team.
I provided the director with a few different color options as well as a quick edit to show what it would look like in the final shot.
